About Betty
You found me.
And I'm glad you're here.
I'm Betty — and I help women over 55 make sense of retirement.
Not the glossy, magazine-cover version of retirement. The real version.
The version where you wonder if your income will last. Where you're not sure when to claim Social Security. Where you think about what would happen if you were suddenly managing everything alone.
Those thoughts aren't weakness. They're wisdom.
And they deserve honest answers.
Why I Started This
For decades, retirement planning was something that happened to women — not with them.
Someone else handled the finances. Someone else met with the advisor. Someone else tracked the accounts.
And then one day — whether through widowhood, divorce, career change, or simply reaching that milestone — you're the one making the decisions.
That transition can feel overwhelming.
It doesn't have to.
I created BettySaidSo because I believe every woman deserves to walk into retirement feeling steady. Not scared. Not confused. Not hoping someone else has it figured out.
Steady.
What You'll Find Here
This site is your trust library. Every article, checklist, and guide is written to be:
- Practical — real steps you can take, not theory you can't use
- Calm — no fear tactics, no countdown clocks, no panic
- Clear — plain language, short sentences, zero jargon
- Honest — I'll tell you what matters and skip what doesn't
I write about the things most women wonder about but rarely ask out loud:
- When should I claim Social Security — and does it really matter?
- What does a "simple" retirement actually cost?
- What documents should I have ready?
- How do I prepare without feeling morbid?
- What if I'm not where I thought I'd be by now?
If any of those sound familiar, you're in the right place.
My Promise to You
I will never use fear to get your attention.
I will never make you feel like you're behind.
I will never talk over your head.
Retirement is one of the most significant transitions of your life. You deserve a guide who respects that — and respects you.
That's what I'm here to do.
